Crochet designer Simpson's (Anyone Can 3D Crochet) latest book is a compilation of 30 adorable patterns that all use the same weight of yarn. Crocheters will find this approach to be a genius strategy, saving them from winding up with scraps of yarn. The author groups her patterns into 10 giftable sets of three items each, which are as functional as they are precious. The pieces are easy to mix and match too. Simpson's sets each contain three garments or accessories that can be created and given as baby shower gifts and more. Patterns offer size variations for newborns and babies three to six months old and six to nine months old. She's given the sets different names, such as Arlo, Theo, and Molly, but most designs are gender-neutral and can be easily personalized. The appendix provides clear instructions about featured abbreviations, yarns, crochet hooks, and other useful items, along with clearly illustrated images of crochet fundamentals, such as holding the hook, making a magic ring, and more. VERDICT Filled with crochet patterns that are straightforward and sweet. This book makes it simple for readers, no matter their skill level, to crochet blankets, hats, onesies, vests, and booties.--Emily Bowles
